"Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven..."
It struck me this week as I lamented another wasted baseball season
was about to go down the dumper in Cleveland, that an inadvertent benefit
had accrued to me. The Indians are so bad this year that I am actually
finding myself watching some World Cup coverage. Now for all you soccer
fans that will step on my toes when we next meet, understand that for
me to even watch the “highlights” of a soccer match are unheard
of and I find it incredible that our team had people glued to their TV’s
and Tivo’s to watch 1(one) actual goal being scored by the USA.
You also have to excuse me as a child of the 40’s and 50’s
who thought that all the international events were staged a bit like
the Harlem Globetrotters for American teams to flex their muscles and
win all the time. As the Olympic Basketball team and other former dominant
athletes of the past disappear into a world of great competitive forces,
it reminds me of how Jesus tried to teach his disciples humility.
Even
though I did pray this week for all the other teams
we competed against at a golf tournament to achieve second place, I do
believe God is trying to teach all of us that the popularity of “just win baby”;
and all is forgiven if you produce big dollars for the company and bend
the rules a bit; and what’s wrong with my trying to get all the
money I can while I’m in a position of power is just plain wrong?
….Matt
6: 33…“Seek ye first the Kingdom of heaven and His
righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you”.
God Bless you as you apply God’s word to your work this week!
