CONNECTIONS!?...
How are they working out?
Many of you have emailed
me about your willingness to try out the list of
ten (10) ideas for being a light to our darkened
world. The results have
been both amazing and sometimes predictable. Most
of you have found that people are not changing fast
enough for your expectations while others are shocked
that people don’t notice or don’t care. Just
think about how God feels when you think about how
long people have ignored his signs and wonders, let
alone His plan for their life. Keep the faith!!
This week is an important time
to start a prayer chain for a brother in the Lord. Many of you sent me
notes about how you were inspired by the book that
chronicles the “Son of Hamas”, Mosab Hassan
Yousef as he shares his conversion experience. The
book also recounts incredible events of violence and
double agent intrigue as Mosab walked a fine line of
being a Palestinian and also a double agent for Israel. Because
of his admitted time as a Hamas member, US authorities
in Homeland Security are ignoring his Christian conversion
and witness and have started deportation proceedings. Those
trials and hearings will begin this month on June 30th,
and if he is returned to the West Bank it is almost
a certain death sentence as his family has disowned
him since Mosab became a Christian.
There is a lot of press coverage
about how some of our Christian leaders have made
claims about the Islamic faith. It surprises me that we have seen little
or no coverage of Mosab’s conversion to Christianity
and even less coverage is given to the fate of Muslims
who convert to Christianity worldwide. For many
Americans, we don’t come close to understanding
how world changing it is for a Muslim to stop being
a Muslim within their family and their culture. That
is why it is important to start making “connections” to
our neighbors, family, and co-workers. We may
be their “family” that transcends bloodlines
and could make an eternal difference in their future. Who
is God calling you to befriend?
Luke 9:47-48 (RSV) “But when Jesus perceived
the thought of their hearts, he took a child and
put him by his side, and said to them, ‘Whoever
receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever
receives me receives him who sent me; for he who
is least among you all is the one who is great."
