CONFESSIONS
AND FORGIVENESS!
The whole world seemed to
stop for fifteen minutes to hear a confession this
past week. It must
have been confusing for many of us who have professed
our faith in Jesus Christ who we believe took the
fall for all of our sins. When Jesus died on
the cross, he took all of our sin and guilt with
him provided we confess our sins with a sincere heart. From
that point forward, we are not expected to be perfect
but to stay close to our Lord in all of our life’s
activities.
In contrast to that approach,
we learned that Tiger laid out a mission of improvement
for himself until he can reach a point of acceptance. The Bible
indicates that all of our “goodness” and “improvements” are
but filthy rags unless it is thru the blood of Christ
and thru His forgiveness. Just how good does
someone become and thru what lens of judgment can someone
use to determine if personal effort is good enough? I
love that Tiger has started a process that could lead
to bringing his family back together. His sins
are no greater or less than yours or mine! The
Bible also teaches that we are all sinners and if we
separated ourselves from God because of our sins, it
matters not which sin we have committed.
Either Jesus was the greatest
fraud ever foisted on mankind, or He was the greatest
gift mankind could ever imagine. Christians often find themselves
too meek to share the gospel truth and solution to
their friends and family. This has become part
of the political correctness theme because it is considered
bad manners to make those who do not believe uncomfortable. What
sins do you need to confess? Where could you
find someone close to you who needs to hear the gospel
story? Thanks to Bret Hume who not only shared
his view of his own faith in Christ, but offered it
freely to all who were listening including Tiger. My
prayer is that all who seek Him will find Him and willingly
share the truth with all around them!
I John 1:9 (NIV) “If we confess
our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive
us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
